--Considering the strong cast, Mary Lynn Rajskub from 24 and Paul Sparks from House of Cards, it’s a binge-worthy TV show. Besides the casting, the storyline itself shows an intoxicating and provocative approach to intimate relationship through femininity, sexuality and money.
--Cinematography: From glasswork to light fixtures, marble to steel, everything is perfectly polished.Heavy use of black and white set a bleak tone, while may affect your mood. This posh life seems emotionally distant. The dark color scheme, though, matches the show’s central lead. Cold and beautiful.
--Acting: Riley Keough’s performance astounded me, to be honest. Balancing the jobs and fulfilling the commitments require Christine to separate her emotions. In other words, she is talented to be emotionless and indifferent. I recognize the clear line between the law student Christine and the escort Chelsea.
--The character: In both internship and escort life, she is professional. Riley Keough, who played Christine Reade in the show, talked about the character, “when she starts to go in that direction, she wouldn’t half-ass anything, so I think that her curiosity goes there and, then, once she’s in, she’s in” (Cohn). I see a strong-headed and smart young lady who tries to fight back.
--Sexuality: Just because sex is no longer a secret or a shame, doesn't mean female sexuality is celebrated. The good thing that the show is unbiased and nonjudgmental about female sexuality and escort industry leaves people open to their interpretations.
--As she was told, “you can be whoever you want to be,” Christine was introduced to the world of transitional relationships. She loves sex, but refuses emotional connections. It explains why she fells into the game in the first place and opts to be a call girl. Although the show is packed with erotic scenes, “the sex here is the backdrop to a far more passionate tale”. I was engaged in Christine Reade’s inner life, her mental transition, family relationship and addiction towards “transactional relationships”. The show is far more ambitious than erotic movies. It is not only about sex, but a girl in her twenties searching for her own identity.

I like it
“I don't pay them for sex. I pay them to leave.”
struggle for right and wrong
